ABOUT ME
|
I am a Corporal with the Clovis Police Department. I have been with the department since June of 2000, when I started as a Community Service Work Program Supervisor. I was sponsored through the police academy in the fall of 2001 and I was sworn in as a Police Officer January 31,2002. Since then, I have worked patrol, in the computer forensic lab, as a Generalist Detective, and an FTO. I promoted to Corporal in June of 2017 and was assigned to patrol for 2 1/2 years. I am now supervising our communications center, I am the Assistant Team Leader for CNT, and the Assistant Volunteer Coordinator. I have just over six years left before I retire, and I would like to be a Sergeant, finishing my career supervising the investigations division.
My husband, who is a Detective with the Madera County Sheriff's Office, and I just celebrated our 12th anniversary this summer. We have a 9 year old son and a daughter who just turned 6. My family is my world and I enjoy being a full-time mother just as much as I enjoy my career. But my career has had a few bumps in the road. In 2012, I fell off of a bicycle and severely injured my foot. I split my heel in half and shattered the joint above my ankle. I spent an entire year learning to walk again, finally making it back to full duty. Then, in 2015, I was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma which is one aspect of a rare genetic syndrome I have. Thankfully, one surgery took care of the tumor and I can proudly say I am 5 years cancer free! These challenges in life have pushed me to become a better person, mother, police officer, and leader. I volunteer for our local Pink Heals chapter, spreading support and love for those battling life threatening diseases, and have a pink trailer named after me. My health has become a priority and I compete in the law enforcement relay race Baker to Vegas, metal parts in my foot included. These events have humbled me and serve as a reminder of what members of the community may be facing when I encounter them. In my professional and personal life I strive to be a humble warrior. |
